All you need to do is practise as much as you can.

However if your scores are on the lower side, I would recommend you to refer to following study materials:
1) RS Agarwal for Visual Reasoning and Data Interpretation
2) Read as many books as you can and try to improve your reading speed
3) Learn squares and cubes of numbers from 1 to 20
4) Refer to any coaching classes prep material. The idea is to master tricks and not just solve problems.

A lot of people ask: What is the ideal level of preparation?
The answer is: It will vary from person to person, but the benchmark is getting 150+ in mock CETs...You must keep on practising till you reach this level.

All the Best for CET 2010...Hoping to see atleast 5 people in Bajaj next year who would have benefited from CET Gyaan Blog...

How to solve Logical Reasoning questions using Venn Diagrams

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 264px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_X_yQ9hG1PdE/SmIpthOwoGI/AAAAAAAAA1Y/ITkoQ0aBVDA/s400/Venn+Diagram.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5359892368515440738" />
The question is as follows:-

All Doctors are Physicians. All Physicians are graduates. All pediatricians are doctors. All actors are graduates.

Conclusions:-
I. Some physicians are actors.
II. Some doctors are actors.
III. All pediatricians are graduates.
IV. All doctors are graduates.

1) All follow
2) Only III and IV follow
3) Only II,III and IV follow
4) Only I,III and IV follow
5) Only I and II follow

Ans)
Now to solve these type of questions, you must always draw Venn diagrams according to the statements given. In our case the venn diagram wud be as depicted:-

Now it is not given the actors are alos some other thing than being graduates. So we have not shown the intersection of Actors' circle with other cirlces. From the Venn diagram it is evident that we can surely say that III and IV follow. Regarding I and II they might be true or false. We cant say about I and II with surety.

So mark option 2.

How to tackle DI problems which are calculation intensive

Like Sunil Gavaskar once said, the best way to play fast bowlers is to stay at the non striker's end..Likewise in CET, the best way to tackle DI problems is to leave them...(This shoud be the case if your attempts are below 160)...

If you are able to attempt 170+ questions, then you should solve DI problems....Posting some tricks for those ppl....

1) 345 + 323+ 567 + 219

Your mind shud make 3 rounds to quickly calculate the sum

Round 1:- Add all the digits in hundreth place...
that is 300 + 300 + 500 + 200 = 1300

Round 2- Add all the digits in tenth place...
that is 40 + 20 + 60 + 10 = 130

Round 1 + Round 2 = 1430

Round 3:- Add all the digits in units place...
that is 5 + 3 + 7 + 9 = 24

Round 1 + Round 2 + Round 3 = 1430 + 24 = 1454
While this might seem to be a very tediuos process its actually faster than your normal addition process...

Important :- Now if for the above question say you had the following as options to your answers
1) 1232
2) 1454
3) 1563
4) 1769
5) 2137

There was no need to calculate the entire sum. I have experienced this adage to come true in my CET 2009 experience. Before CET 2009, my previous two CETs fetched me 99.57%tile and 98.43%tile. But in the earlier CETs I didnt practise much.

Turning Point:- I spoke to 99.99%tiler Puneet Tulsyan, about how he did he go about hs preparations to get such a score. And he told me that he solved around 60+ mock papers and attempted 200 questions.

How did it pan out for me.

1) Starting from Jan, I used to solve atleast 1 paper each day.

2)I joined a test series. I also got mock papers from other coaching classes. I used to sit 2 and 1/2 hour on a stretc to solve each paper.

3) After solving each paper, I used to analyse my performance and find out any weaknesses in me. Then I used to separately work on those weaknesses to improve upon them.

4) By the time CET happened, I had solved around 50 mock papers in all.

5) In CET attmepting 190+ questions is of utmost importance to make it to JBIMS. So speed is as important as accuracy. I attempted 195 questions in CET 2009.

Advice to CET aspirants

1) CET questions are pretty simple. The only thing is that you must be quick on your feet to solve those.

2) There is no one strategy to crack CET. Solve atleast 50 + mocks and make your own strategy.

3) In the end if you can attempt 190+ questions, there is no need for a strategy...:)

4) Remember one thing, only JBIMS is A+ grade in CET and the rest all are B-C grade colleges. So aim no less than JBIMS.

All the best to all. I hope my post will help you guys. As soon as I get time, I shall add the tricks on this blog.

Tips to solve the comprehension passages of CET

1) Never leave the antonyms and synonyms questions of passages. You need not read the passage for solving these.
2) Never read the passage word to word.
3) Find a keyword in the question and scan through the passage to find a keyword. Once you find the keyword, then read the sentence containing the keyword carefully.
4) The answers to passage questions generally appear sequentially in a CET passage. So do not read the entire passage first. type='text'>Best Colleges through CET

CET has been a very popular option for Maharashtra MBA aspirants..However getting a good college in CET is easy as well as tough...

1)Easy because unlike CAT,XAT and most other B-school entrance exams..CET is a speed test..so the more you practice the better you get..
2) Tough because there are very few good options available in CET..The only colleges that are
good in CET are:-
a) JBIMS - 99.85 %tile to 99.99%tile
b) Sydenham - 99.5 %tile to 99.85%tile
c) Somaiya and Welingakr - 99.4 %tile to 99.8%tile
d) PUMBA...

Out of the above colleges, JBIMS is the best by far.....
So all the best to all CET aspirants ..and my advice to you would be to solve as many CET mocks as possible...
Will be soon coming up with tricks of solving the CET mocks...so keep looking at the The Welingkars is a damn good college in terms of infrastructure. Before the GD/PI they had a presentation, where they blabbered about all the heavenly things about Welingkars. The process was well managed and all the volunteers were really doing well (though at times they were just too much faaunting the wireless phones in their hands).

The GD topic was "Today's youth has become installment oriented"..What a fu.... topic that was....Said a couple of points like
1) Today's youth want things pretty early in their life
2) Youth has become more knowledgeable..(Property rates go up by 30 %..Interest rates of loans only 16 %)
3) Government must come up with a legal framework so as to make sure that people are cheated by installment feature giving companies..blah blah..
In the end summarised a bit..The examiners didn't look very happy...

Personal Interivew

Q1) Why leaving Infosys?
A1) Gave the very usual answer...I have 2 years of experience in technical domain..want to understand business now....blah ..blah...

Q2) I give you 20 lakhs. How would you use it to start a comapny?
A2) 1) Will do market research..to find out from where can I get maximum IT projects.
2) Recruit ppl with necessary skillset
3) Go and do marketing to get the projects
4) Rent a office.
5) Physical Infrastructure of the office.
6) Insurance because it would be a high rifk venture.
7) Running cost.......hehehe (seemed very satisified with the answer)

Q3) Given an option to head an IT dept and start a new IT comapny, what would you choose?
A3) Start a new venture..that is where my skills will come to the fore etc etc....

Q4) What innovation have you done in your job?
A4) Expalined the sorting problem..told him that I got a star award for the same.

Q5) Who is your favourite player in IPL?
A5) Sachin Tendulker

Q6) Will he do well in IPL?
A6) Definitely Sir. He has got all the big shots in the book.

Q7) What do you think of the slapgate incident. ( Harbhajan Slapping Sreesanth)
A7) It was a very bad incident and should not have happened. Harbahjan has been selected as an ambassadoe of India. This incident would malign not only Harbhajan's but also India's image.

Q8) What would you do if you become a successful entrepreneur?\
A8) I would like to give back to society what I have got from it. JRD Tata gave me a scholarship though he was not my relative..blah blah..

In the end it was very ok GD and good PI. Hoping for a positive result...

Links to Average Package figures of top 4 colleges thru CET

http://www.jbims.edu/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=73&Itemid=99
http://www.simsree.org/ep2006-7.htm
http://simsr.somaiya.edu/simsr/placements/executive.asp
http://welingkar.org/Welingkar/v1/Placements/Executive_Placements.asp?br=5&section=P

Program Structure of MBA

A typical MBA program has the following structure: First Year: The student, in the first year of the MBA program, is introduced to the various functional areas of management - Marketing, Finance, HR, IT, et cetera. Summer Project: After completing the first year, a student gets an opportunity to work on a live project with a company for around 10 weeks in order to gain insight into the real world of management. Second Year: The second year curriculum would typically include about 6 - 8 compulsory courses and a few electives according to the individual’s choice, which would depend on the area of specialization.

Why MBA?

MBA institutes nurture managers through a wide combination of instruction methods like case study approach (exposing them to real life unstructured situations along with analytical tools), group and individual assignments, lectures, presentations, games and simulations and live projects with companies. In a rather short span of time, the student's capabilities and understanding undergo a huge improvement. Participants discover their true potential and develop better business perspective. Companies believe that every new MBA would add value to the company. Most companies perceive that a candidate with an MBA from a prestigious institution would have a strong understanding of business structure, along with characteristics such as professionalism, ability to deliver quality under stress and team building skills. While the above holds true, an MBA is also one’s ticket to a better career and higher salaries.

What is MBA?

Masters in Business Administration (MBA) is a two years postgraduate course, which offers either a degree or a diploma.
